12 second build up cheap talon

I found this 92 talon tsi awd for 500.00 doesnt have 100k miles on it yet.and it is totally virgin. no mods what so ever.guy didnt have a clue what he had.did not scam him. he ran it in the local paper for 600.00 I ask if he would take 500.00 he said yes.but anyway Im looking for this to be a daily driver but also looking for a 11-12 second car. anyone know where i can find a list or give there personal advice thru experience what i would need. the car is mint needs paint, no rust, no dents, sunroof doesnt leak,motorruns great,but the transmission for the car came in a box in the trunk in a million pieces. just sent it to jon sheppard for a rebuild. any help would be great. thinking of taking motor out if need be to get the 11-12 window.anyway what would this car bring(selling price) like it is with the shep tranny.just in case i lose interest in it . that happens sometimes! havent played with a dsm since my rt/tt stealth a couple of years ago.so Im glad to be back. just a little out of touch.

Impossible, there is no such thing as a cheap, reliable, 12 second talon, you will need some $$$ aside for some unexpected fixes, trust me.

i didnt mean i was trying to do a cheap rebuild.sheppard is doing my tranny.hes not cheap.i meant the car was bought cheap.

^^^^ That is not true, if you do all the maintenace first and then get to modding you can have a reliable car. It all depends on how you drive the car and your future maintenance. I never had a problem until m balance shaft belt broke and I was getting ready to redo all that at the time. Maintence then modding, look at the upgrade path for your first mods. Goodluck and you'll never want to sell it after you drive it.

checked that out and it seems that theories have changed about different mods. the reason me asking was i was trying to target the guys who have been there and done that and not just hacked the air can or the maf or took the resticter out of the boost sillinoid and call it modded.pushing 100 extra hp to someone who dont know any better.

r-34 didnt mean it that way its just ever tuner i talk to off this site i ask the same question and its like they have the list of mods from this site memorized and list the things that can be done.but when asked if it worked for them its always not yet but i will.and i now this guy that did it and is putting down 400 hp just hacking the air can and gutting the cat.im a old school tuner back in the day when the only bolt ons for a dsm was a new set of rims and all mods came from the junk yards and your buddies shared the knowledge.sorry

I'm sure you are more knowledgable than me about cars.
Tunning guides written on this page worked for most of the people, not everybody, but most of. It gives you at least an idea of what you need to achieve a certain goal, but it doesn't guarantee that you actually going to get there.

The progression in upgrades is time proven. If you love your DSM start from the bottom like everyone else AS you research and understand what you are getting and how well your car responded to one mod then the next. If you want a good recipe though, give me a PM sometime. I can save you alot of heartache with just a few questions.

93gs no thats what i over hear alot on the street and parking lots. i sit back and let them enjoy the oohhs and aahhs from kids that dont know any better. i used to be into dsms but it was mainly rt/tt stealths and 3000gts. the v-6 twin turbos rebuilt a few stealths in the day and all though like talon and stealth is dsm they are to a point very different and what worked on my v-6s twin turbos dont sometimes work on the 4 banger turbos.that why im looking for info.the thories are the same but to achieve results the steps are very different.thanks

My advice would be to start with maintenance (obviously) and get the car in PERFECT running condition (or as close to it as possible) before starting to mod. I'm sure you already knew that, though...Just gotta be thorough

As far as modding, I've found it's best to start with one area of the car at a time. i.e. after you've done the basic "free" mods, start with the fuel system (good First Mod area). Upgrade everything you'd like to upgrade in the fuel system, keeping in mind what your hp goals are. After you've got the fuel system done, move on to a larger turbo. Then move on to exhaust. etc, etc. Before you know it, you'll have a reliable, streetable car that runs 12's all day long

Also, get a datalogger and USE IT OFTEN.
