I am stumped. Plugs are nice and tan, no smoke at start up. no smoke at idle, no smoke at full throttle, no leaks, were the hell is it going? I just bought this car in march. CAI, Exhaust. Nothing else messed with. No check engine lights on either. I do run it hard 5 - 6750 rpm shifts.
any input would be appreciated.

synthetic blen or just straight synthetic. Kinda pricey, but if it is better in the long run well then consider it a done deal!!

Using synthetic?? You can't see it burn like regular oil. Used to have an old mazda beater, smoked like 1 quart every 200 miles. Wanted to trade in, dealer said fix the smoking i'll give you $800. Took it home drained oil added 4quarts Mobil 1.........No more smoke.

Double diagnosis from Lycoming county. Twenty where the car??

the car is still sitting at steinbachers garage having my engine put in..LOL..the mechanic went on a vacation all this week and my engine didnt arrive until monday so he cant start it until this monday..itll be done by the end of the week though..hey do you know of any laws that say you cant driv around without a hood..i have to drive to reading to pick up another CF hood but i dont have my stock one up here so ill have to drive down there without it on..im not so much afraid of being stopped as much as i am afraid of blowing hoses off and anything else on the way down..oh and then im going to import wars at hersey saturday..wanna come?..:)

It's fairly common for the 2gnt's to consume alot of oil (alot in my opinion). Mine has done it since 13,000 miles. I've used mobil 1 fully synthetic since I bought the car at 13,000. I was told it was from the valve stem seals leaking, but all the valve stems I've seen leaking have caused smoking. Anyways... after I rebuilt the cylinder head with all my goodies, I replaced the valve stem seals as well. No change. Still consumes oil.

Before I did all that head work, I made an oil catch can out of PVC, two fittings and some transmission lines. My oil consumption problem is caused by one of two things. Excessive pressure in the crankcase or poor PCV system design allowing liquid oil (drips, not streams) to enter the pcv system. I've got a light oil film from the pcv hose at the valve cover to CAI, oil film in the throttle body and when I removed the upper and lower intake, the runners were slightly slick from oil. My oil catch can also seperated the oil and crank case fumes. So I know that's part of the source.

I think it's normal for it to consume the oil. I just don't want it going in to my intake system. I just got done moving the battery to the trunk so hopefully soon a good catch can will be in order.
