So I have a problem with a 1.8 I bought. It started for the first 2 days I've had it. Bought it with a blown head so I fixed it and runs great! This morning I went to the carwash, turned it off and when I was finished, tryied to start it and nothing happened. All lights turned on but won't dimed down at all. Tried to jump it and nothing. Changed the starter and nothing. Replaced the switch underneath the clutch and nothing. Car just won't do anything when I try to start it!! Battery cables are clean. There's conection to the starter its just something in between LOL. Anyone had the same prob?

Thanks!!

I replaced one in there (the only one next to the fuse box under the dashboard) and still no luck. Bt according to the haynes repair manual its underneathe the stereo. This is on a 1g.

Isn't that the MPI relay? It wouldn't be affected by a wash.. unless the fuel pump or coils shorted..
There is also another box under there with the ECU and MPI, it's a black box but I don't remember exactly what it is. Anywho, none of those things would be affected by a mere wash. You need to check all your fuses.

Its a distributor 1.8, not coils. Nothing electrical got wet. And if it did I would of noticed the difference when I pushed start it. Idle'd fine and ran fine. But as soon as I parked and shut off......doesn't start.

actually no its the starter relay. the MFI relay is under the radio usually on the right side.

coils and fuel pump doesn't mean a damn, the car won't crank

you have to make sure you getting power to the relay and from the relay.

do your accessories get power like lights and dashboard?

^^^ true, but before I tear stuff appart, I would like to make sure where is the damn starter relay LOL ima google search it real quick.
