dsmcrazydave said:the highest clutch for the 1.8l is the 2100. will a 2.0 NT clutch work in the 1.8 tranny?

DSM SHOP MANUAL is a definite must.
This was my first attempt at a motor swap, i'm not a mechanic, i'm a nurse, so this might be easier for someone with more experience. mounting the engine the mounts in the engine bay are the same, the mounts on the engine are totally different. wiring was hell, not too bad in the engine bay but the interior was a pain, the 1.8 and the 2.0 have completely different wiring. when routing vacuum hoses, if you have a 1991 or up make sure the bypass valve is attached to the evap canister, make sure you pay close attention to the vacuum diagrams, i have a 1991 and i accidentally followed the 1990, the car would start and just stall.
i would recommend an aftermarket boost gauge and oil pressure gauge, i also installed an afc to tune any airflow issues.
like i said i'm not quite done and the car hasn't been on the road yet but thanks to everyone for the help.
. Doesnt seem too bad, just new wiring harness and a fully working turbo motor with everything on it and your good to go.loreak said:ok about what i said earlier with the 1.8 tranny on a turbo motor, i was wrong, it all fit but it turns out that you have to have a 2.0 turbo tranny if you use a turbo flywheel and clutch. The bellhousings on the 1.8 and 2.0 non turbo are smaller and they will rub the flywheel and it cant rotate. So if you have a 1.8, tranny maybe you could use a 2.0 NT flywheel and clutch, but that would be kinda lame, i dont know what kinda power that would hold. So basically you need a 2.0 turbo tranny.
my friends car is still not working, he caught it on fire cuz starter couldnt turn over cuz bellhousing with tranny issue, and it just caught on fire. Doesnt seem too bad, just new wiring harness and a fully working turbo motor with everything on it and your good to go.
