Looks like a fun build! You definitely want to run a heat shield or do a ceramic coating on the exhaust manifold if you plan on doing track time. Also highly recommend boxing off all the air flow through the intercooler to force it to go through your radiator. Have you been on track yet?
 
Well, I decided I should put in my prothane control arm bushings. Upper, lower, front, and rear. Doing each corner at a time. This is tough work getting the old bushings out. Starting with the rear. I don't really want to pull the front knuckles so not sure how the front will go. Pulling the rear knuckles tomorrow. I'll post photos when it's all said and done.
 
Haven't updated this in a few months, but the car is definitely different. This past week, the 16g's coolant lines rubbed together and caused the turbo and motor to overheat, blowing the headgasket and cracking my FP manifold twice.

Having a 6-bolt from a 92 sitting in the garage, I figured, what the hell? I'll just take this time to build the 6-bolt, replace many old parts that were on their last limb, and CLEAN!

My goal for the car at this point is for it to have roughly 450-500hp. I'm aiming to do a stock rebuild on the 6-bolt with the addition of:
  • ARP Rod Bolts
  • ARP Head Studs
  • HKS 272s
  • MLS Headgasket
Still unsure of what kind of bearings and rings to use as this will be first time building an engine. So any input on what y'all use or what has been proven to last I would greatly appreciate!
My old Evo3 16g gave me innumerable amounts of headaches involving the internal wastegate so I plan to upgrade to an external gate with either a 20g or 3052 style turbo.
When I get all my parts in order, I'll start writing on this again and updating it with many pictures.
Can't wait to start on my dream!
 
Got power to the car and got to crank the motor. No oil leaks (yet, haha). Cam gears are wobbling and slowly pushing the belt off, which I suspect is being cause by the wrinkle powder coat on the gears. Ordering AEM cam gears here soon, will retime the engine when I swap them in, and then I believe we can start the car. After that I just need to bleed my clutch, install axles, and figure out why my passenger door won’t close and then I can drive it again!
