Hey all, So after a 7 year restoration we back together and driving. I have a fresh out of the wrap TMZ stage 3 trans filled with Amsoil MTL (tells you how long ago I had that rebuilt...), resurfaced ACT Streetlite, and new ACT 2100 clutch. New TOB, New release fork, so essentially it's all new. Transfer case was rebuilt filled with OEM Mitsu fluid. Boosted fab mounts, Aluminum K member bushings, aluminum driveshaft with JXB carrier.

So anyhow this is essentially a retired race car that will spend the rest of it's days on back roads and at car meets. I expect vibration, in fact it's part of the fun but on decel right around 3,300 rpm and when slipping the clutch I get a metal chatter that is new to the rebuild and a bit concerning. It seems to be getting slightly better as I break in the clutch but not sure if I should let it ride or pull the trans and double check some things.

Kind of hard to hear but second 4-5 of the video you can hear it over the dash rattle... https://photos.app.goo.gl/dvV7VBt7E9V3TC5A9 Maybe I'll throw my gopro under the hood and go for a drive to see if I can capture it better.

Maybe vibrating/loose fan shroud, grill, bracket?
For sure sounds directly drivetrain related. Today driving it it almost sounds right from the transfer case area into drive shaft. I'm going to put it up on quickjacks tomorrow and see if I can run it/recreate it with the wheels in the air and triple check fluid levels while I'm down there. That doesn't take long and I may be able to be under there while someone else slips the clutch and see if I can see it.

So then if you're at speed and you hold the clutch pedal down and let the engine idle, you still hear the noise?
Nope 100% goes away with clutch in driving.

I pulled the driveshaft and ran it on the lift tonight. Checked torque and fluid on a bunch of stuff while I was under there. Put a yolk in the transfer case and had a friend slip it just to where it just barely starts to grab which is where it makes the noise. When you slip the clutch you should see that thing bounce and shutter. Well see for yourself... https://photos.app.goo.gl/U7DMA7SByeP1KpcU6

I think it's just the clutch chattering but why? Did they not resurface the flywheel correctly or is it the ACT clutch springs just compressing and unloading while it slips. Or a defective disc with excessive runout. Or bent finger from the go somehow. Then why on decel around 3300 rpm is it getting quieter I swear as I break in this clutch so I'm going to keep giving her a go and see what happens but I'll go fairly easy. Then go with the Southbend that I should have gotten in the first place this fall.
