Is ECMLink not an option for you? That is what just about anyone on this forum will recommend for 98% of people.

That being said, I did just fire up the car (literally yesterday) for the first time on a Haltech Elite 1500. Their PnP adapter and base map make the process as straightforward as possible if full standalone is what you want. That would be my recommendation for aftermarket standalone, but again, ECMLink really can do just about anything anyone with a DSM could ask for.

EDIT: Sorry I just saw you said Automatic transmission which would not work with the PnP adapter and the 1500. You would need to use a shift box or something I would think. I only have 5 speed DSMs so someone else would have to chime in.

I'm about to install the haltech 1500 with the PnP adapter to a 1990. I do have ecmlink, but want the extra inputs from the haltech. Do you have a 1g or 2g? Just wondering how the install went and if you had any issues?

I have a 2G. I had to swap the MAP sensor from the Baro input that ECMlink uses through the factory MAF connector to the MDP input that would have been on a factory 2G car. I have also found that the PnP adapter default tach output seems to cause a very jumpy tach so I need to troubleshoot that. Other than those couple of things the install was no problem and the car fired right up after re-creating my ECMLink maps in the Haltech software. I have not driven the car yet so I can't comment on much more than that for now.
