I found a 97 talon tsi out here for only 2600. I've seen/driven the thing in person. It has 100,000 miles on it. The guy said it threw the timing belt so he got it fully repaired. New harmonic balancer rebuilt the head... The only problem with it was the black paint on the top was faded. See the pics in my profile. Buy? Yay or nay?

Well personally, I would hold out for an awd, but that's just me. As far as whether it's worth that kind of money, I would say yes if has been properly taken care of it's whole life.

I've never gotten my GSt above 135 on the compression test, and that's with a new engine.

But FWD Talon 2gb's are HARD TO FIND. But, that doesn't really mean anything honestly. Get what you want.

do it.

people don't know what to think when they hear the word....talon. It's a great feeling.

Bought it today. No regrets. The paint is faded on the black like I said, but everything works great, runs strong.

That dent will be easy to just pop back out.

Anyways. So, I bring the car home from a 70 mile trip. Somebody told me about smoke coming out when I revved the car. I went to McDs for lunch today pulled out of hte parking lot and look back and see a cloud of white smoke behind me. It didn't follow me, just under acceleration it leaves a plume of smoke. I asked the guy how long the car had been sitting and he said about 4 months.

Do you think its just condensation? I DID make a 70 mile trip and I thought it would have gotten out. The headgasket was recently replaced when the head was rebuilt so I think that factors that out. So what else could it be?
