I just installed a RnR 3" cat back. Should i put a 3" test pipe on to get rid of the stock cat or should i just leave it? What do you guys think..also where can i get one. Turboextreme is the only vendor here that has one but theres no way to buy it. Ebay was no good either. Thanks for the input guys.

Maybe throw hi Flow Cat in there?? Depends on if you have to pass emissions. If you don't and dont care about pollution :) then go with the test pipe. Either way you will want something that is flows better than the stock cat. IE: Hi Flow cat, or test pipe. I use the Apexi system so i dont have a cat.

If legality and emissions is an issue for you I would recommend a high flow cat. If you don't mind replacing the test pipe with a cat for emissions testing and aren't worried about spot-checks then go for the test pipe.

I live in a town of around 300 people..Emissions is no big deal..Although ive heard a certified mechanic cannot work on a car that doesnt have a cat. If this is true i should opt for the high flow cat. Is that BS or not because owning a DSM your bound to have to take it in sometime or another?

Go to your local mechanic and ask him... I never heard of that before. If I were you I would just put in a test pipe. I have a full length downpipe which eliminates the cat and when I go for emissions I just have to swap the downpipe back to the stock one with the cat on it. It only takes a total of 10 minutes... No big deal.

Alright thanks man, I REALLY need to find a place that sells them now? Anyone got a 3" they wanna get rid of for cheap haha

Will you PM me his contact information. I dont knwo this guy but 40 bucks sounds good haha..thanks man

If you go to a mechanic (the one i asked) if they don't care what you have on it, THEY cannot take the cat off, but if you do it then its no big deal(what i was told)

If you are going to go the cheap route.

Build your own for even less. If you want something to purchase the website I posted will be a pretty good choice. THe one thing about EBAY I can not stand is.....

You pay a shitload in Shipping and you RARELY get it in a timely fashion!

Cut the shell off the cat, and weld it around the test pipe. That way you can drive it around all day, and nosy cops don't know you're not running with a cat. Or you could get a hi-flow, which they already said.

I got mine at testpipes.com or racingpipes.com I forgot the exact name. But it is pretty good quality and works good.

Make sure you do somthing about the muffler cuz i just put on a test pipe and i feel no difference. Im going to drill a whole in my muffler for added flow to see if that helps.

That is not going to do enough to warrent a drilled hole. It will be sooo loud and obnoxious you will soon be on here looking for another muffler.

If you are doing all of this to a stock system, just do yourself a favor and get some custom piping made for a full 2.5 or 3 inch system.:thumb:

Just gut your stock cat, or find a larger cat at the junkyard and gut that one. Im running a 3 inch gutted cat (basically a test pipe for all intents and purposes) and it looks exactly like a cat although sounds a little hollow when knocked upon =) It probably frees up like 10 extra whp, so it can help performance some....
