ok so check this out i have a 96 dsm which has the check engine light on (its been on for months) but now the cops are aware that i have a inspection problem and love to make excuses to pull me over and love hitting me with the 100 dollar inspection sticker tickets.....

so now the deal is this about 2 weeks ago i replaced my transmission disconnected the battery and put it back together..... ok so now heres the good part check engine light back on....

so i go to get it inspected to see what the issue was btw i drove like 200 miles or so in the last 2 weeks on 20 minute drives or so so the SH** should be out of the not ready stage but its not what do i do to make it ready....

HELP me please or somwhon buy it from me 5200.... ask for pics im fed up

Ok, so what is your question? Your not asking anything.

If you want to know what the CEL is, take it to AutoZone and have them tell you what the code is. Without the code and with the information you provided, I don't believe anyone can help you.

its been 2 weeks daily driven and its still not ready how the hell does this thing become ready its been 200+ miles

what is the not ready stage. that's a very vague description. what's the check light on for?

p.s. mind using punctuations?

ok well here ill make it better....

when i hook up my obdII scanner...... it says that i havent gone thru the drive cycle to make the ecu in the ready stage..... it needs to be in the ready stage in order to pass emissions.... usually it goes into ready stage after driving for a while but mine wont switch over so i need to know the drive cycle to get it to be ready

With a CEL you will not pass emissions, so you need to get the code scanned and fix the problem first. As far as the monitors being shown as "not ready" that goes back to a problem with certain ECU's. You are required to perform certain drive cycles before the emissions monitors will show up as "ready". The problem is that some 2g ECU's fail to retain the readiness monitor information after the car is turned off. The ECU is supposed to keep the readiness monitor status after the vehicle is turned off and until the battery is disconnected or goes completly dead. The dealers are aware of this, but Mitsubishi refuses to address the problem.

You only have one option.......Take it to the dealership and pay them to run the emissions. They will hook the ECU up to a MUT-II and force the readiness monitors to set and then run the emissions test. When I had it done 3 years ago, it was about $130. Since then, I have been exempt from emissions testing because I haven't driven the Spyder more than 5,000 miles a year.

I have also heard of people getting in contact with their state's emissions administration and getting out of the emissions testing. Apparently some states are aware of the ECU problems and are allowing 2g Eclipse owners to skip the testing.

Good luck!

EDIT ->

If I remember correctly there are about 8 or 10 different drive cycles. The problem becomes that they are extremely difficult to complete. I remember spending about 4 hours one night and was unable to set any of the monitors. The other problem is that some require you to shut off the vehicle after completing the drive cycle. Well, that is the reason that the monitors reset in the first place, so you are out of luck on that one.

If it runs fine, why not just pull the bulb from the CEL in the instrument cluster? My state doesn't have this type of inspection so forgive my ignorance if it is a stupid suggestion...

OBD-II emissions work by attaching a computer to the OBD-II port in the car. The state supplied software asks the ECU for certain information, such as readiness monitor status and CEL's. If the ECU replies that there is a CEL, the car will automatically fail, no questions asked.

So you could remove the bulb, but the ECU will still "tell on you :p "

I had the same problem with my 2g . I replaced the ECU per a B29 recall for 96 and after a Week I took it in for testing and told me it still has not went through all the monitors, so they performed a sniff test instead and past, soon at they gave me my slip the CEL came on . I got lucky for once

how about a switch to turn off the power to the ecu so you can clear the codes.....right when you arrive at the inspection station and they want to scan the ecu, flip on the switch right before they hook it up and bingo no codes....there should be a window before you see a check engine light again.

yes but the ECU will still show as "not ready" all you pre 1996 guys dont know what your talking about b\c you dont have to do OBD-II. I also was in the same boat with a CEL and the ECU not being ready it took me 4 months to get rid of all the CEL codes and drive the car 200 miles so it is "ready"

hellraz0r1337----- just pull all the codes and fix all the problems and drive it for 200 miles and if you dont get a CEL within the 200 miles go straight to a smog station and get her smogged
