medicine hat,
i've got what i think is a needle valve here from my work. IT was originaly used as a manual valve for our instrumentation side(oilfield work). It looks similar to what is here: http://www.parker.com/EAD/displayCatalog.asp?menu_parkerid=46&menu_gid=15&menu_divid=13&catid=4750
I just took the thing from work...being as it was used...and figured it might work for a manual boost controller for my car. i can completely close the valve and as i turn the adjustment knob on top it becomes easier and easier for me to blow air through it.....is this the same concept as other mbc's?? I know its rated for extremely high pressures...and temperatures...and shouldnt experience much of either under my hood.....should i use this thing??? and if i do when adjusting boost pressure is it wise to start with the valve closed all the way or open??

thanks for the help!!

The best MBCs use a ball/spring valve not a needle valve, though both work at controlling boost when prioperly setup. Note that you will need a constant "leak" btw the valve and the wastegate in conjunction with the valve.

Can read more about MBCs at BoostController.com :dsm:
