Worse that could happen with bad tie rods.

Was told i had bad tie rods today when i was getting new passenger side cv axle and boot put on today. Told my tie rods arent very good. This is something i wouldnt have payed attention to but whats the worse that could happen with those being bad.

yea that doesnt sound good.... How do you know before theyre getting that dangerous??? Any noises or funny vibrations thru steering wheel before that happens? Or does it jus go out suddenly.

If they are bad replace them don't need to chance your life trying to save money.

yea thanks for the advice... The guy didnt make them seem horribly bad but the driver side one wasnt in the best shape and he recommended replacing them. But still i know i should replace them asap...

If they are the outer ends, they are about a skill level 2 to replace (removing a wheel being level 1). If you shop around, you can find them for as low as $10 each. The expensive part is the alignment that you will need afterward. Do both inners and outers (2 each) at the same time if you can.

Well my cars been down for a little bit now because of my engine rebuild/and swap and ill just try to make sure i get new ones of those put in while its down. Are they something that normally go out?

Yes, they wear out. I just replaced all of mine, at about 120,000 when wear became noticible in at least one of them. All had some loseness, though it was only slight in one of them.

how many are there i thought there was only two, and mines are like that the driver side one is a little looser than the passenger side one. How much did you spend for them .

There are two outer and two inner obviously one each perside.

The outers are fairly cheap, maybe 10.00 each, and the inners are a bit more, around 30-35.00 a piece. You waill also have to factor in the cost of an alignment once you replace them so an additional 60.00 or so.
