I have a 91 gsx that I just replaced the bottom end in. We put it all together and on the way home i noticed an oil leak. When I pulled the timing cover off I noticed the bs belt tensioner isn't there anymore(bs's eliminated). So I went to home depot and and got a bolt to fit in the hole. I also put a new gasket on the oil filter housing. I put it all back together and now it won't fire. I noticed that while installing the aem wideband my buddy unplugged the safc II so I plugged it back in and still nothing. I hear the fuel pump kick on but haven't tested for spark yet. Doing that tonight after a friend gets out of work.

Can anyone think of anything I might have messed with or unplugged by accident while I was on the timing side of the motor? Thanks in advance.

Not to state the obvious.....but is the coil pack and power transistor plugged back in? I forget to plug them back in all the time!

Yes. I did check those yesterday. I forgot to mention that I did alot of researching the last 2 days and this is my last resort. I have a friend comming over when he gets out of work with a spark tester, compression tester and fuel pressure gauge. I keep thinking its something that I unplugged and the more I stare at the motor the more i'm going insane. Thanks for the help.

After all that the timing was off. I'm guessing the oil got on the timing belt and helped it slip. Tensioner is wicked strong and the belt was tight. Got a bunch of stuff to do this weekend but hopefully start working on it again monday.
