Will this custom bov recirculation work?

ok this topic has been beaten to death, brought back and beaten some more. I know that recirculation is + and venting is -. Anyways I bought my talon tsi with quite a few..."errors" I didnt know that venting was bad on stock maf until i read some threads on here. It made perfect sense along with the idle and running rich probs i've been having. There is a turbo xs look-a-like bov on the car when I got it. I plugged one of the vents on it and then routed the other port into a fitting on the intake piping.

The reason I ask if this will work is because I obviously dont have, or ever personally seen the stock intake. Not sure if there is anything fancy to it.

Also the fitting (pvc tubing) in the intake is slanted towards the compressor housing. I tested this and no air comes back towards the filter side. I would drive the car around to check personally but I'm waiting on a fuel regulator and some lowering springs.

Looks good to me man, the stock setup puts it back in about the same spot and i dont see why this setup you got wont work. looks nice too, good job.
 
Just to save you a headache I would recommend adding an extra clamp on those couplers. At least on the charge side. Those look like the PVC couplers I used from ACE to make my PVC intercooler piping and it was blowing them off @8psi.

I just used the original clamp in the "groove" and added an extra on the end and it solved the problem. Im not for sure if those are the exact same ones but they look close! I used em because they are cheap and they make a good assortment of sizes. I am a bit worried that when I run the 14b with a bit more boost I am going to swell them or split them though :coy:


Would the portions sticking into the path of the airflow be a problem?

No the stock 2gs have a longer tube that that extending into the intake. I belive its a "baffle" to reduce noise of the BOV venting.

idk what the clamps are considered technically. One is a hose clamp i bought at lowes which is the run of the mill rubber coupling clamp. The other is a radiator hose clamp because I ran out of the shiny coupling clamps :)

Yeh I know what you mean ACE is closer than the local parts house so Im there often. I was referring to the BOOTS themselves. Try putting 20PSI into the system w a regulated air hose and see what happens. If you got them at LOWES or a hardware store I would guess they will swell like mine and pop off. I just stuck 2 clamps instead of ONE at every junction and this solved the problem. They were 1/4 the cost of the cheapest couplers I found LOL

There is no boost on those, only slightly less than atmospheric pressure, what you have will be fine. I used PVC and JB weld to make a recirc fitting for my BOV, working fine for more than a year now.
 
PVC doesn't like heat. PVC does not have very good thermal expansion properties. So as long as you aren't running 25psi on a stock intercooler and getting heat into the PVC you will be fine. It's one reason potato guns get brittle after a lot of use.

It looks like he used the Grey type. Its a little more resistant to heat and its flexible so it doesnt get as brittle. Also note I used this type and noticed an average of 3degrees farenheit drop in intake charge temps from the intercooler :)

Well i dont have the stock intercooler, got a large fmic. But i dont see 25psi anytime soon on my 14b for my DD LOL. I'm still going to keep the car in the 11-14psi range until i get ahead on the car loan. I was hoping that the intake was aluminum so that i could braze an aluminum fitting but nope..thick plastic intake LOL. Seems most of the charge piping is thick plastic too. At least i dont have to worry that much about heat soak :)
