Hey guys I am looking to get a set of the new Racing Hart J8 Wheels and I have only seen them in 19'x9' and wider setups. Will a 9' inch wide wheel fit on a 2G eclipse GSX. I know the standard is 8.5 so will another half inch fit on there. Let me know thanks.

By standard do you mean stock? Because no DSM came stock with 8.5" rims. I know the GS-Ts come with 6.5" not sure about the GS-X but its no more than 7". The 3000gt came with some pretty wide wheels maybe thats where you got that number. I am currently runing 3000gt wheels that are 16x8 with a 245/45/16 tire and they barely fit. There is no way you could really go any bigger than that without them sticking out from the fender and running into steering issues.

The damned car's only 17 feet long, 19' wheels may appear a bit.... outre.

I don't know how you'll get fender flares to fit over that 9-feet-wide.

 I just fell out of my chair at work. That was some funny s*it.

I would think that would be too wide regardless of offset, but I'm not positive. Do you really want 35 series tires??? Every time you hit a bump you'll need to replace a blowout. 18 x 8 with a 40 series would ride better.

wut do you think is the widest tire that could fit, i think im ganna stay with 17s but how wide can fit? or should i go to 18 mb?

Depending on how wide the wheel is, i have some 17" tsw's on my car with 255/40/17's and they dont rub(unless theres people sititng in the back around hard corners) but my car isnt lowered or anything... i'd stay with a 235 for clearance reasons

sorry by tire i meant rim, i think im going to go either 17 or 18, but i want them to be wide

Be careful not to apply 2g fitment to your 1g.

An 8.5-INCH wheel with about the highest practical offset. about 40mm, will be about the same width as the top of the fender in the rear and protrude about 1/4 inch in the front. In my opinion this is a very pleasing visual effect. Obviously a 9-inch wheel would protrude half an inch further. There's no way around it. This is a tolerable look on a racer, where the goal is performance over looks, but not on a street car.

I thought they made the J8's in a 19x8. I love the look of those rims I wish they would have came in a 17 or 18.

Yea they make the J8 in 19x8 but not in the Limited SBC finish I want, but I guess it looks like its just not possible.

I am running 18x8.5 rims with 245/45 tires and they do rub slightly when i go over big bumps. If i were to buy new tires I would go with 235s.
