Which way do the locks face on Big Rods?

I need to know which way the locks face on the big rods so my machinist can put the pistons on the right way. Do they face the front or rear of the engine? Are there any other identifying marks that show which way they go in? Or does it not matter as long as they all go in the same way? Thanks!

edit: Do the locks on the rods face the exhaust side? Cause if I remember correctly the main bearings locks did face the exhaust side.

Some people say it doesnt matter, but the locks face the exhaust side from the factory, so I would go that way.
