Ok...there are TWO ads... just by what you see in the add which one would you go for? Which would be the best bang for the buck? Which do you think would have the best performance (or be a good platform for the best performance)

Eagle Talon 91 Turbo AWD 275+HP (eclipse/lazer) FOR SALE $2500

Only problem is that it doesn't have power steering.

Rebuilt Evolution III engine (high compression ratio) and 14b Turbo (absolutely NO shaft play) about 14K on them, boost guage, manual boost controller, SUPER cold a/c, new poly motor mounts, Xyb agx adjustable shocks, Crower stage 2 cam shaft , Unorthadox racing pully, Balance shaft removal kit, Fuel pressure regulator, Fuel pressure gadge, Walbro 255 high pressure fuel pump, 3in exhaust all the way back with magnoflow, new 2600 clutch, new clutch master cylinder, and some fuzy dice! =)

OR

91 talon tsi - $2500

I have a 91 eagle talon tsi awd. I have put about 7,000$ into the car. It has a new JDM engine, rebuild trassmission, rebuild ECU, Brand new 16G turbo; with ported manifold, new alternator, brand new clutch, clutch slave clyder, full exhust 2 1/2 inch, turbo timer, 2 gauge pod and lots more. Please contact me for full details. This car is in mint condition. Call me if you have any questions any time of the day or night.

Let me know what you think. Making a purchase this Sunday.

I agree, second car is closer to stock. I'd go with #2 personally. Plus, to me, no power steering would suck if you ever wanted to do something besides drag racing

I like the second one as well because he's done alot of the maintence. Alot less things to worry about. The second one doesn't have "high compression ratio"(dumbass).

The first dude also spelled laser wrong. I also like the fact that the second car has a turbo timer. It shows he cares about his turbo.

If the second ones not awd i would do the first one just cus awd is worth it.

If it were me i would get the first one though. I have a donor car that could use all these upgrades. I'd swap all the parts and resell the car for a long run profit.

I think this post is gonna be confusing but i'm tired. I'll fix it later.

Um.... Well....... :p

Ok... so... 2nd car has a good base to work my way up... but the first car has good performance parts? Is that pretty much what i'm getting from you guys?

I'd go with #1, but that's mostly due to a reflexive hatred for any time someone tries to use 'JDM' as a selling point, as I understand that it actually means 'japanese junkyard motor'. Makes me want to slap them upside the head with an oar. Also, an Evo III engine is very nifty to have. Also, the increased road feel and less leakage from the manual rack is very nice, though muscle-building if you try to slalom with it. Only really good if you're building a dedicated race car, takes too much convenience out of a DD.

Vitriol for ricetards aside, I'd go with #2, only deciding based on the description, as the seller sounds less likely to try for 'power shortcuts', so it's more likely to be in better condition. Also like the turbo timer, though with an MHI oil/water spool it's not as neccessary, unless you do track days or hill climb.

Honestly though, I'd go out and look at both of them. Check the engine bay, look for oil/fluid leakage, bring your tools and give each a compression test then and there. Inspect the underbody for damage (which I neglected to do before buying my own), especially the control arms and subframe. Test drive them, and watch for shifter wiggle (the main retaining nut can work itself loose, makes the shifter wiggle, minor thing to fix if you work on cars, but can kill the tranny if it's left too long). Check the oil, make sure it isn't milkshakey (oil/water mixing). Take off the radiator cap and start the car. If water shoots out of the radiator on a cold start, it most likely has a failing headgasket that's letting exhaust into the coolant system, and will need to be rebuilt.
If you already own a 1G datalogger cable, bring that too and log a pull. Get as much information as possible before making a decision. :)

i'd also ask about mileage and timing belt replacement. personally i would go for the first one, mainly because mine is fwd and i wouldnt mind haveing an awd weekend warrior. if i ended up not likeing the awd as much, you can probably part it out for a profit. i'd also check for ecu being eprom or not, thats going to be something you want if you're thinking of taking the project further than it already is and plan on getting link. check the turbo for shaft play, all the good maintenance stuff. also check your goals on the car, for me it's a highway warrior, eventually i'm going with big turbo. probably not a whole lot of auto x in my future. eventually i'd like to get an awd shell and build it up for rally racing, however, thats not my goal for my car i have. gas mileage is going to be an issue too if the govt cant get their sh!t in order and gas prices continue to rise.

haha, i'm retarded, somehow i skipped over that. in that case i'd go with the second one based souly on the description. also because i'd rather go with the one that has less tranny problems and is the least molested. of course personally eprom would be a large factor as well.

dang guys... thanks for hooking it up... lots of GREAT info. Ok... so here is the twist. I own the first car... (dang it...did i really sound like THAT MUCH of a retard.....don't answer that.) I bought it for 2300 about a month ago, then, just came across this other one a few days ago. The guy said the starter is being replaced this saturday and i'll be able to come see it on Monday. So that was the debate.... sell mine and buy #2....or, if you guys think it will be worth it... buy the 2nd one...combine the best parts of both, and sell the extra car... but only if the outcome would be worth the effort. So... what do you guys think now?

well, if you go for the new one you'll have to pay taxes to register it all over again, govt has to have their money. if you're happy with what you have then there is no need to fix what isn't broken. it's going to come down to your personal prefrence really. you could come away pretty cheap if you bought the second one, combined parts and sold the shell plus whatever you had no need for.

I personally would go with #2, it sounds like the guy took more care of it, and I have read in many places that an evo 3 will not fit into a 1G because it is a 7 bolt with "tranny rollers" (not the right word for the part), and there is no way to make it fit, so it probally just has a factory rebuild or a jdm engine to
