I am in the process of rebuilding a 1st gen head for my 2g and i know that the 90 cams suck the most outta the 1g's, but are they better than my stock 2ga's??? I am wondering if they are really that bad, how would a 2g cam flow in a 1g head??? I dunno just need a little insight.

Thankx

You can find a set of 1G cams for really cheap.I would put a set of 1G cams back in it over the 2G stock cams.

1990 cams are the smallest out of any of our cams. Save your money and get some comp 100s cams. I wouldnt mess around with stock stuff. You will replace them anyway with performace cams in the future. I have the comp 100s in mine and everyday I am glad I made that desision. Contact mitch at www.engintecs.com if you need any head work done or he may have a set of cams for you.

id get a set of 93 cams if you were short on cash, otherwise id get HKS 264's. ill run those till the day i die.

the 1g cams are not that much of an improvement but if you had some laying around or found a set of 93-94's for cheap then you may as well, they will be a little better than the stock 2g's. I run the 264's and couldn't be happier although they are the only cams I've tried out other than the stockers. You can get them used for relatively cheap too. However, FP's lines of cams are competitively priced, it might be worth a look.

I'm saving up for some cam's but i cant fit them into the budget now, what i want to know is since i'm bout to swap a 1g head on my 2g are the 90 cams i have better or worse than my 2ga cams. Which set should i put in the 1g head, 90cams or the 2ga (1995-1996)?

there should be a letter stamped on the end of the 1g cams(a through e or f i think). i dont know about the 2g ones but find out what the letter is. there where quite a few different cams throughout the years and it depends on a few things... are the 1g cams from an auto or manual? the autos had the same cams as the n/t 4g63's. the 2g's in general had weaker grinds to complement the 2g head. i'm guessing it had something to do with emmisions.

Read through this and you will find the answer that if you mix and match factory cams from different years you will improve your performance without having something you have to tune every week and won't give you a rough idle.

Am i wrong for thinking that all 2gen 4g63 turbos had the same cams and all the 1st gen 4g63 turbos had the same cams?
