From what i have learned, and been told by the original owner, 1990 TSI AWD, It has the following as mods. 92 brakes front and rear, 91 rear end, 560cc injectors, big16g turbo, manual boost controller w/SAFC II, 2g exhasut manifold, 2g o2 housing, k&n intake, brand new mishimoto alum radiator, and new clutch slave cylinder. All that being said, its still not anywhere near perfect. The shifter bushings are long gone, previously mentioned boost leak, cracked valve cover, and my one big concern, when making harder faster right turns, the left rear makes a clicking sound, which i assume to be the cv joint freaking out= not good.
So, i kind of have a build plan in mind.
First, the cheap easy stuff. New valve cover, and new spark plugs and wires at the same time. Also swapping out gaskets and seals at that time.
Next i would like to get a new timing belt, and do a new water pump at that time, along with swapping out pulleys and the tensioner.
Next step would be moving to a FMIC or new suspension goodies. Not sure which one first, but the cv joint thing bothers me. In the process of suspension i would also swap out my frame bushings because im sure they are shot. Not sure if i should just replace all 4 whenever i can just to be safe, i dont know. Also the FMIC is something that i know will help, but, know i have no where near the proficiency to do it alone.
That is kind of what i have laid out so far. I also dont know if switching out the SAFC for a dsmlink is advantageous or not, but its an option. Considering i dont really know how to use the SAFC as it is, i dont see a point in it anytime soon. Any and all suggestions/critiques for my plan are greatly appreciated, or better yet if you live somewhere near montgomery al, you could look at it and help out
Check back in later with some pics.
