where to install aftermarket fuel level gauge

I read the online instructions for a.glowshift gauge, it.mentioned a fuel sending / level wire that should be in the engine bay, but I think it's just a fuel pump.test connector that.we have in our cars.

I've done all possible testing to fix my factory gauge and I don't know the problem. I've grounded the yellow wires and watch the gauge fill up, so i have no idea. it's like the wires bad for what it needs to do but it will ground out.

not sure if i wanna take a chance buying a used gauge cluster either. Thanks in advanced.

I swapped new gauges into my 1g cluster and all i did was solder the wires from the new gauges to the corresponding places on the back of the cluster
