I am currently building a 4g63t motor and do not know if I should make it a stroker or not . This car will be a daily driver and I am shooting for around 400whp. I already have a EvoIII 16g turbo, 680cc injectors, eagle rods, walbro 255 fuel pump, act 2600 clutch, xact flywheel, blitz dc II turbo timer and much more but am in the middle of figuring out if these parts will be able to support a 2.3 stroker bottom end or not. I was told the Evo III big 16g is not enough to support a stroker bottom end. Any input would be much appreciated becouse I do not want to build a stroker and find out that the turbo is to small or any of the other parts I have already purchased. Thanks much in advance!!!!!

Well if your DSM is going to stay a daily driver then I would rule out a stroker. Strokers, although powerful, are not very reliable. You don't need a stroker to reach 400WHP, Slow Boy Racing sells a Stage I 2.0L Short Block that supports 500WHP. So just a well built motor will get you beyond 400WHP.

The EVO III Big 16G is good for around 360-380 WHP, so depending on how you've tuned your car you could be close to that now. And no, I don't think an EVO III Big 16G would be a wise choice for a stroker. Depending on how strong the motor will be, you may want to find a 50-Trim so you can utilize the blocks full potential.

If I were you I would build a good, strong motor and port out your existing head or buy a race head. Also consider buying a bigger turbo as well. But I think a stroker is over-kill for what you want, especially if you want to keep your DSM a daily driver.

Hope this helps.
