hey my cel code is reading the purge valve control solenoid on my 98 nt so i replaced the egr thinking it was in there but it obviously wasnt...does anyone have any pics or detailed info on where this is and where i can get one and how much they are..please help..thanks nick

What is the CEL (P1494)?. Is it referring to the evaporative emissions purge solenoid? If so it is in front of the the wheel well on the passenger side. If you know where the filter goes on a CAI on the drivers side, the evap canister and purge solenoids are in the same spot but on passenger side.

EGR deals with exhaust gases anyways. It has it's own solenoid but that is not the same thing as the evap purge solenoid. The Evaporative emissions purge solenoid has been moved around a few times on the NT's. It has an electrical connector with two wires in it, two vacuum lines that go to it. The end of it has a round diaphram in it. Behind the front bumper fascia is one location. Also check back at the fuel filter area. The solenoid has a rubber coupler for both hoses. Both hoses going to it are hard plastic. I think I have a tech article about the evaporative emissions system on these cars. Some info in there may be helpful.

ok cool..thanks for the info guys..now i just have to find the time to locate it..if anyone still has any pics or other info to add please let me know cuz im still not 100% sure where it is..thanks nick

I can take a picture of it in my car, but it may not match the location on yours. I am not sure how cool your dealership is but when I told mine what the code was they were nice enough to pull up the part and location on their computer and show it to me.
