Okay I have been adding a small amount of oil in my car each week for the past couple of months because it is getting lower on the dipstick each time I check it. Just did a compression test today and got 165-155-155-160. Car does not leak any oil where I park and can never see any smoke coming out of it at startup, takeoff, cruising, or wot. Checked turbo for shaftplay and had a very small amount of side to side and almost no in/out. Where could I be losing this oil??? Are there some seals in the turbo that can go bad without me knowing from checking the shaftplay? Any help would be appreciated. TIA. :thumb: :talon:

check your coolant for oil
I actually just did an oil change yesterday because I blew the oil filter off and did not see any coolant in the oil, just black nasty oil. What exactly would it look like if there were coolant in there, would it seperate from the oil or what? I am still lost.

A way you can check if there is coolant in your oil is to smell the dipstick it will smell liek coolant..and if it does that means you blew a head gasket...another way to check it is a method i did...i let the car sit there and idle for about 15 mins straight than went to go drive it..what i had noticed was a bunch of smoke coming out of the exhaust which told me that my valve seals were gone....hope that helps

Okay thanks I will try those tests tomorrow and maybe find something out. But my compression would be low if my headgasket was blown and compression is fine so I think I can rule that out. I'm guessing either valve seals or turbo.

Check the insides of your intercooler piping for oil. If the turbo seals are going, it will deposit oil in there and slowly burn it away. Also, when your oil and water mix it looks milky. Id say your head gasket is ok judging by those compression numbers. Small chance the gasket could have torn from an oil hole to the outside and its running down the back of the block, but then youd see oil on the ground. I'd guess turbo seals

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I took my intercooler off about 2 months ago to clean it with gas and there was a very small amount of oil in the piping. But back then I didn't notice the oil loss, so I guess it's getting worse. I think my headgasket is fine because of the good compression and my oil is not milky it still looks like clean oil every since I changed it tuesday. And I'm not getting any spots on the ground either. I guess I'll replace the turbo and see if it fixes it. :coy: Good time to upgrade I guess. If this makes any sence the oil that I drain out of my catch can is a little milky. It's light brown in color and alot thicker than the 10w30 synthetic that I use in the car, so thick that it takes awhile to drain. Don't know why it's like that but the oil I empty out of the pan is fine and just looks like old oil, not milky or discolored at all.
