Any shops you'd recommend? I was doing some searching online and found a shop in MD (Hanover specifically) that does DSM engine work, Jackson Auto Machine. Have you heard of them?

I have heard of Jackson Auto Machine.
I recommend Gunthers Machine at 10409 B Woodsboro Pike Walkersville, MD 21793 #301-898-5840
Not very close to Glen Burnie, but worth the drive. They did all of my machine work on my car and it's been great. Ran 11.3 @130

Nice, how long ago did you have the work done? I take it that you haven't had any issues at all?

i use a hole in the wall machine shop in baltimore county for my motor and for everythink my shop does to customers cars. Not much to look at but they do pretty good work, and awesome guys to talk to. Swanners Machine shop in parkville. I perfer them because of them being small. i could walk in there anytime and look at all of my stuff.

I had Gunthers do the machine work January of 2011 and i built the motor over the next month or so. Not one problem from the engine, the trans how ever has been rebuilt and repaired twice since then.
Gunthers is a small machine shop out in the sticks and I always got to speak with the same guy from day one each time i stopped in. Even though it was about 50miles each way every time i went there, I'd do it again. If i would have been more prepared and organized (this was my first build), i could have saved lots of miles.

So I nee to rebuild the turbo due to some oil seepage causing a little smoke. I am looking for a place to get the turbo balanced.. Does anybody know of a shop?

Welcome, when you say oil seepage do you mean a minor oil leak? When does it smoke, under acceleration when boosting, accelerating after stopping, all the time? From what i have seen in the past, the only irregular
smoking i have had was from bad valve seals on DSMs.
If your turbo does require a rebuild, contact TSITurbo95 (Ryan) he posted a few posts back. He can help you with that.

x2 for Gunthers.. I'd keep on searching right past Jackson IMO..:shhh:

Get the machine work done, order your rebuild parts, get some precise measuring tools, and hit the forum/manual/google and build it yourself. It really isn't to hard and you dont need to be a rocket scientist to build a 4G63. You might need to be one to keep your oil lines mounted correctly though..haha..

There are quite a few people local that always are down to help lend a hand. I've sent many a text asking stupid questions..

not a whole lot left, but let me know if you need something from parts car. It's a '93 tsi fwd. The engine wire harness is gone and no ecu so not sure if that will help you much.

Good job. Let'r eat.
Was englishtown rain out, if not how'd ## team do?

We went t the Spring Nationals at Englishtown Raceway Park this weekend. There were several 1g's representing for us. A 9 sec flat, blue one, a white one, a red one, an avenger swapped to a 4g63 (he won my class), and Wendy's Wings. This was my first 11.50 index race so I'll tell you the story. Started out Wednesday when Shawn and Marcus spent the day installing the new stock converter in my magiacal Metro Transmission. I spend 2 and a half hours taking out the front seat. So we get to the track early (which never happens because we run on bp time). First pass...13.01 @ 109, second pass 12.39 @ 110. Just two qualifing passes on Saturday, I and qualified 9th of 26.
Sunday morning, first pass 12.05 @ 108, second pass 11.99 @ 110. Shawn and Russ made a few key stroke prior to my last pass, and it worked. Spun the front wheels for a minute but still had my best 60 foot at 1.69. She still has street tires and a 16g under the hood, and we weighed in today at 3070 lbs.. I can't wait for you all to see us scoot down the 1320 a little bit quicker. Our next event will be Summer Slam on June 30th - July 1 at Englishtown again. Please join us anyone that wants to.

Thank you Shawn, Russ, Jeff, Lucas, Marcus, and Metro Transmissions.
