I have a 1G using Palm m100/MMCd software and at idle I read 8*-10* @750-800 rpm. I know how you should check base timing with a light while grounding a pin but I cant find my timing gun in the garage and was just curious what other peoples pocketlogger says while idling.

I seem to get good advance 21*@6031rpm running 18psi with HKSFCD set to #8 with only 1-4 knock. However above 6500rpm I will get about 10 knocks and timing falls to 15-17*. When I 1st logged I got 41 knocks with the HKSFCD set to its leanest setting 7 (for dsm). I have since richened it up to 8 (setting 9 still fuel cuts on cool mornings @18psi), changed to BPR7ES colder plugs, and cut the pass. fender liner and installed mesh behind my Alamo big smic. Next is the sheet metal cold air box around the filter.

I'm just curious if Im really set to 5* base.

I never fooled with mine at all, and I got around 9-11 degrees @ 750-800 (at full operating temperature).

Don't double post.

8-10 is right. However, this won't tell you if your base timing is right or not.
