whats this under the dash?

My friend has a 1995 Talon TSI AWD, and theres a thing under his dash below the steering wheel that has a plug plugged into it. It has a date on it from 1998, and says something about "transmissions" on the label(the label is peeling pretty bad to see what it says before that) Anybody know?

ummmm i never had a problem hotlinking or anything, so maybe they changed for '04 or something, but i tried reloading several times, and sometimes 2 out of 3 of the pics show up.........but yeah, he has a 5 speed tranny.

Maybe the previous owner had an auto starter or something...

p.s anyone know free image hosting sites that are like what imagestation USED to be like?

Well, one of those was showing last night. I didn't recognize it, but I don't know if it was something to do with audio or an alarm. It didn't look stock.

If you can find a serial number, throw it at Google. Sometimes amazing information shows up.

Well, maybe "evil" is a little strong, but it is rather unsettling to read about their business practices. So instead of just cutting and pasting a bunch of stuff, I'll just throw out a couple of links and those that are interested can read for themselves.
