I pulled my starter relay from behind the radio & checked it..it's bad. So I call mitsubishi up today & give them the part number, & they say it's the steering relay..then they say it's the cruise control relay. The part number on the relay itself is MB398020. any help??? is this in fact the starter relay???

MB398020 - Window Relay - Galant 1989 - 1993
MB398020 - Starter Relay - Diamante 1992 - 1994
MB398020 - Cruise control Relay - Eclipse 1995 - 1999
MB398020 - Anti-lock Brake Relay - Montero Sport 1997 - 2004
MB398020 - Starter Relay - Diamante 1995 - 1996
MB398020 - Abs Relay - 1997 - 2002

The part number reference comes up with quite a few things. This part number/Same Amp relay obviously does quite a few things. Expect to pay between 40-50 bones for it from the stealership.

ok so just order it then? they're like universal relays pretty much? i want to make sure i get the right relay.

Correct. Relays are rated by the voltage and current that is needed to activate the armature and are often used by their manufacturer for different tasks on different vehicles.

I found a few other threads on here that also had that part number matched to their starter relay. I am not sure why the OEM Mitu site has it as the cruise control relay for our cars and the starter relay for the Diamante. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge about this can pop in here.

Ill see what else I can find out.
