i got my old 1g back from a friend. He didn't tell me very much about, he just said it was running horrible, idling really low and wanting to die. almost made it sound like a electrical problem. i went to the car and pulled out the spark plugs and found that 1 of them was damaged pretty bad, it got smashed. im guessing bent valves? the car also needs clutch throw out bearing replaced as well as all the seals on the timing side. i got a buddy who wants to help me on it. we figured since the tranny needs to come out and the timing we would just pull the engine and give it a rebuild. just hit 200,000 miles. i would hate to fix the engine and put it back together to find there is another problem. should i start with just fixing the head and make sure i can get the car running before the big rebuild or should i pull the engine and if so what all should i look for before i put it back together and find out something else is wrong?
