I want to get back into a dsm. This guy wants to trade me for my h22 accord. Now jokes aside about the Honda, what should i be looking for? I was thinking of bringing a compression tester. My car mechanically is mint. I want this to be the same. Give me some ideas oh great lords of dsm wisdom. :D

Mileage,Part Installed,Clutch Wear,Engine Visual Inspection(Be Sckeptical if the engine is degreased(Problems In past with the dealers!!!!)) Check for oil leaks. If its a turbo take off the intake and check for shaft play. All the basics i guess. No ticks other than the typical lifter tick. :dsm:

Ask for a test drive, make sure you try all the buttons inside the car. Make sure everything works. If you feel something iffy while you drive it, then don't hesitate to ask him about it. DSM's need to be taken care of and theres a high possibility someone would try to fuxor you over. AND make sure you ask how old the clutch is and what kind of motor oil he uses.

Thanks for the replies guys. The clutch is fairly new 2100 act. I forgot all about checking everything inside to see if it works. :thumb:

Anyone else?

That guy in the first post sold his car. I got another guy with a 91 and my main concern is he says it has a boost leak. Should i be concerned? Should i make him fix it first. I read the article on how to find a boost leak, but i just need to know if i should be concerned about bigger things. And it has the " i don't want to pop up headlight problem".

Y'know I find these types of problems really don't matter to me. I think It is best to find the best deal on the car I want. But if I find the DSM I really want I'll probably buy it anyway. So even if If it has a few mechanical blemishes, I say go for it.

Yea but i am trading a car that is mechically excellent. BUT i do want back in a awd dsm. We'll see. Probably gonna check out the car this week.
