Just like the title says guys, what bends did you all use for your home made fmic? I am looking for those who have done this with a 2g.

I am thinking of going with 2.5" piping from summit. They have 2.5" straigh pipe in 4' sections for $11. http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&N=100&Ntk=PartSearch&Ntt=sum-640025

And the U bends are $17. http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&N=100&Ntk=PartSearch&Ntt=sum-622003

The J bends are here for $17 also. http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&N=100&Ntk=PartSearch&Ntt=sum-621008

Another thing. I do not want to go up through the fender, and I am thinking that using the J bends aren't worth it as the U bends give you more.

1. What bends did you use?

2. How was your design? If you can explain fully, or maybe design one on paint to show your routing.

3. What OD Diameter did you use? (2.25", 2.5", 3"?)

4. How much piping exactly did you use? (straight pipe, U bends?....J bends? and where)

5. What is the diameter of the throttle body where the upper intercooler pipe matches it? Is it 2.5"?

I need this information promply as I have my FMIC, but need my piping and I am trying to do this all for under 300. ;)

EDIT* I forgot to mention that my turbo does not use a 90 degree elbow, so that piping will be coming from the driver side.

Thank you,
Gilbert

How will these 2 U bends get me there? Please explain. The legs from JCwitney are not very long either. Maybe I am a bit in the dark here. But I don't understand how it would get there. Care to explain?

Thanks,
Gil

Making your piping is easy as cake and costs well under 100 dollars to do all said and done.

If you're not going to elaborate, why bother posting.....

Yea, I know its simple, I just don't want to buy extra parts.

What diameter did you use? Did it match up with the throttle body?

5. What is the diameter of the throttle body where the upper intercooler pipe matches it? Is it 2.5"?

Thank you, I didn't wanna be an ass about it. But he is making it seem as if it is common knowledge.

I am looking for the ways people have done this and what routes they took. Which were easiest and best.

Through the fender?

Through the bottom?

No stock hoses what so ever. I only want hard piping.

Where?

This could be very useful for others w/o the guess and check.

What is there to elaborate on? You cut the pipes as needed, and weld them. It's not rocket science. As far as routes go, take off the bumper and have a look. There's only so many routes.

You gotta love the PURE dick heads on DSMtuners  If you don't want to help, keep your damn mouth shut and move on. How hard is that????

I used 2.25" from the turbo to the i/c and 2.5" from the I/c to the throttle body.

I already had Dejons blow through 2.5" uicp so I can't help you there. I used 1 2.5" u bend from RRE that was 18$. That was enough to reach from the I/c to the uicp.

I used 1 2.25" u bend and one 90 degree bend to point up between the fans.

I did this yesterday and it went very smoothly. I thought it would take more time but it was cake. See pictures in this thread http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142778

Wow, thanks a lot. I appreciate how you answered all my questions as asked.

I have installed an HKS FMIC on my 97 supra, but that was a kit premade.

This is kinda my budget racer. ;)

Does your passenger side piping go through the fender? I am thinking of having it come under as it may be a little shorter and straighter, but I won't know until I take that bumper apart.

I bought mine from Jegs.com...they have Hooker/Dynomax J and U bends as well as Stainless Works. Great investment to do your own IC piping. Just be absolutely sure to bead da pipes. word

Yes the passenger side goes through the fender to the stock uicp location because I already had a Dejon Tool uicp. The short route would be theoretically better but I don't know if anyones actually tested it.
