What is the "P" line on the TB?

I noticed today that the "P" fitting on my throttle body has no vaccum line running to it. I don't believe it is corked off either. What is the purpose of this line and could it cause a bad idle? Thanks.

It's "Ported" - when the throttle plate closes, its passage is blocked by the edge of the throttle plate. When you crack the throttle, it sees vacuum.

So is it normal to be open like that with no line on it?

No, it's supposed to go to the evap emissions and purge control solenoids.

I looked all over the engine bay and I don't see any vaccum lines that could have come disconnected from there. Every line is connected to something while that "P" port on the TB remains empty. Could it have shipped from that factory like that?

On the 98s and 99s, the P fitting has no use. Look down inside the hole, it's plugged inside from the factory. Don't worry about it.
