I have a 91 GST and I want to know what is the max boost I can run. Also what is a good upgrade turbo for my car with a little more boost to it?

Thanks, kyle

what mods do you have? Dont even think of messing with the boost without a boost guage and a/f guage. On a stock vehicle with at least 91 octane fuel you should be safe at 14-16 psi, but dont trust the stock boost guage.

Buy a boost gauge and an EGT gauge, get a datalogger. Then, bump the boost up little by little until either your knock gets too high for your comfort, or your temps are too high for your comfort.

(cause your comfort zone on how close you want to run to the edge varies too)

I have a turbo back straight thru exhaust no cats nothing ( I dont have emissions where I live) K&N Cold air intake, turbo xs bov, 550cc injecters, walbro 190 fuel pump fully rebuilt engine( top of the line everything, rings piston heads bearings) Engine boarded out 30 over, 8mm wires, ngk spark plugs, dejon tool upper intercooler pipeing, GM-MAFT, and translater, 30,12,8 front mount intercooler, boost controller and boost gauge. Thats all the performance parts. So how much do you think the turbo can go up to?

Kyle,

.... you have all those mods and you cant figure out how much boost you can run? how about.. plug in a logger.. and check for knock.. turn up boost.. check knock and tune with maft.. keep doing that till you start running the injectors to around 80% duty cycle and thats about how much boost you can run. Each car is different so you have to do a little tuning. You do know how to tune right?

You can support more boost than the stock turbo can put out efficiently, assuming you have a 14b. With just 550's, and 94 Octane, I could run 22 psi without fuel cut, after that, it was just pushing hot air (keep in mind my turbo was highly ported). 18 psi is probably the most you should be going for on 94 octane for normal driving. You may hit fuel cut before then (shut the fuel cut eliminator on the maf-t off, as you need to know how the car is really doing before using that).
