ok, i am gettin either a dual or triple gauge pod and i am positive that i want a boost gauge, but what other gauge/s should i get?? i was thinking either oil temperature, engine temperature, exhaust temperature, or maybe even an air fuel ratio gauge<~~~~but would this gauge serve any purpose on a very lightly modded GST???

I agree with the boost and egt. In addition I have the an a/f guage installed in my GSX and my wife's GST. I only installed them because my wife likes the light show. Other than that I would probably have just the boost and egt.

EGT is also fairly useless, just buy a logger instead.

My top pics are:

Boost
Fuel Pressure
Oil Pressure
Coolant Temp

I'm running the first two, and will be getting the second two eventually.

How much do you distrust stock Coolant Temp and Oil Pressure gauges?

Are there any reasons to know precise coolant temp and oil pressure? If not, I think stock gauges will do OK for just telling you if something is wrong.

just installed my boost and A/F guage on my pillar. a/f just bounces around all the time, not realy useful but looks cool. boost guage is my fav, you can really tell whats going on now. next guages will be the dash pods with a EGT and a oil pressure or a VOLT guage. all my guages are the same color and type so it all matches and looks pimp.:thumb:

Boost gauge is a deifnite must. I have an A/F, but it isn't working right. I don't even get the light show except when I first turn on my car and the engine hasn't warmed up yet. I wouldn't buy one, but it came installed in the car already. An EGT gauge also offers useful information. I would suggest you put your money elsewhere beyond the EGT and boost gauges.

My Eclipse came with boost and a/f on the a-pillar, anytime I'd give anybody a ride for the first time (male or female) I'd notice them staring at the a/f the whole time.

The chicks seemed to just like the "pretty" part of it, the guys seemed to think it was actually functional.

...........People who tune soley by an EGT guage are not very good tuners.. But it is more of a MUST IMO, I duno about you but I sure as hell want to know if my exhaust is geting above 1000*C

Everyone is saying that the A/F gauge is no good, but isn't it very useful when you are trying to tune with the SAFC???? The whole reason i haven't touched my AFC is because everyone says i need an A/F gauge.

I have a triple A-pillar setup with:

-EGT Gauge
-Boost
-A/F

I would get an oil temp or coolant temp gauge but I have no where else to put any more gauges. SAFC is mounted in the center vent, turbo timer in the vent under the steering wheel and a double DIN CD player so none under that either;)

because the autometer a/f gauge is extremely inaccurate and reads full rich when you go WOT. when you're not in wot, it just dances around constantly.

they're more of a dummy light and will only let you know if you have a serious problem (doesnt go full rich when wot) and could help prevent engine damage. using one for tuning is praying for a blown motor though.

for any kind of tuning, you'd want a wideband O2 sensor. AEM has a new and pretty inexpensive unit out for that.

I have autometer comp ultralites. boost and egt are a must, then I have volts and oil pressure. but the volts isn't in anymore. i have a triple a pillar pod.

a/f ratio gauge from autometer is useless.

if I coudl afford it I would have defi gauges. defi gauges = badas ss

The a/f gauge is NOT useless. In fact, a lot of race cars (including NA motors) use autometer a/f gauges. OMG  I haven't seen anyone actually backup why it' so "useless." Till then, quit talkin out of your asses.

Boost gauge = not an option.
I also have an A/F guage. Yeah it just dances around but it DOES look pretty and lets on the when my O2 sensor is dying.
I tune with my logger so an EGT guage is not at the top of my "to buy" list.

BTW if you tune with a logger and your EGT's go over 1000 that means you're tuning impaired.

Its not useless, but it just doesnt provide enough accurate info to keep a tuner from blowing up his/her engine. I've had my A/F guage reading "rich" under wot and my datalogger clearly showed that my injectors were maxed and timing being pulled because I was knocking like a mo fo. If I just relied on that one gauge I'd be screwed.

Right, you shouldn't only rely on an a/f gauge. It's just an extra step to help prevent a problem. A buddy of mine has one in his pro rally car and it saved his ass durring a race when the motor sudenly wen't full lean.

People who agree with the majority just to agree and sound smart are the ones who I was directing my comment to.
