what does the "manual valve" that IPT sells do?

Not 100% sure but I think it is the valve that moves in/out with the shifter and they are easy to break from what I heard ( not lined up when putting the valve body on ) . That ### the manual calls this piece .
It might have some different valving from stock but not sure .

It is an improved design over the stock one. It is especially helpful when doing a shift kit install, because you don't have to drill it and risk breaking it. Some misconceptions about it are that it allows you to manually shift. Not true. All this does is hold the car in 1st gear when you put it in LOW, and hold it in 2nd gear when you put in 2.
