What are signs of a bad maf?

I just picked up my car today at the body shop backed out of the garage and pressed on the gas and the car bucked and studderd alot but hardly went anywere. I got home safe but it was very hard to drive the car. At first when i started the car it was idleing funny and boging almost shuting off on me.

I got home and checked for boost leaks and checked all my hose's and pipes everything was good.So i checked my maf and it seemed fine. So i decided to unpluged it and turned the car on. It was ideling fine for about 5 minutes so i decided to give it a test drive. It drove fine no bucks or studdering at all...

So can this mean i have a bad maf? and need to replace it? thanks

Usually the signs to look for are an airflow reading that doesn't look right, or an IAT reading that's out of whack, or an incorrect BARO reading. You said you checked the MAF; what checks did you perform?

I have a spare 2g MAF, but I'm not offering to sell it to you as that would be against the rules. Besides I like to have a spare.

my car is doing the same thing but I havnt checked it yet. I thought it was the spark plugs or wires. But yea I have 4 spare mafs at home so I'll try those too.

When a maf go's bad are these signs of a bad maf? The bucking and unresponsive throtle response..beause like i mentioned before the car drove fine with it unpluged but once i re'enterd the plug it started to slowly idle down and bog ready to shut off. But when it wasen't pluged it would idle fine and let me drive.

So im thinking i need a new MAF. Because everything else seems fine.

I had a bad MAF in the past and it acted like that. The car ran better with it unplugged. It did not run well but it did idle with it unplugged and it would not do that with it plugged in.

Im getting my new one today im going to install it and hope that this clears my issue. Ill keep you guys updated.

Ok so i installed my new maf today it did the same thing but i gusse my car was acting funny because while my car was at the garrage the battery was taken out so my ecu was reset. So i had to let me car idle for a lil while and drive a couple miles so everyhing went back to normal...Thanks for the help.

Did it ever occur to you checking the dial knobs?? Maybe the shop messed around with them.

Yea im having a similar problem. I have a misfire, and when i go to rev the engine, not alot lets say i was revving to 1.5k rpm. It would bog down a few hundred rpm, then go up to what i revved it to.

Then ill let off, and itll drop to 500rpm then back to idle speed.
