Weird rpm acting

k guys I have a 1995 talon esi bone stock. When I drive around and push the clutch pedal my rpm goes up to 2000 rpm and stay at 2000 for like 7-8 sec before it finally goes down to normal idle rpm. (Sorry if my english sucks Im french) Ill try to give you an exemple :
I am going 30mph and Im about to break so I push the clutch pedal to go in second but my rpm stays at 2000 (it should drop to ~1000 as soon as I push the pedal no ?)

RPM's don't drop in a car like kurt warners football career. why do you even want your rpm's to drop so fast anyways? they need to stay up so when you shift, your engine is still in the rpm range of the next gear. (i.e when you shift from from 4000 in 4th it'll drop to 3100 in 5th).

do you mean when you engame the gear itself, not just when the clutch is in? Like youre in first at 3K rpm, shift into 2nd and when the clutch grabs the rpm's dont drop? If so that is a little odd, unless youre an amazingly fast shifter. Mine usually drops about 500 rpm's when it engages the next gear up.

It sounds like your clutch is slipping. If it grabs at 2000 and takes a minute to drop rpms to correspond with what it should be in that gear with that much throttle, then it's likely your clutch slipping. You may or may not experience a smell akin to burning dog doo. It depends on how bad you're burning up that clutch.

i dont think thats what he is saying at all. i think he is saying when he is driving and pushes his clutch in to come to a stop, the rpms stay at 2000 and dont drop to idle for 7-8 seconds.

GSgoingfast is right, lets say I am going 50mph in third at about 4000 rpm. I need to break so I push my clutch pedal (Holding it to the floor for a while) and my rpm does not drop to idle it stays at like 2000 rpm for a LONG time before it goes down. kk an other exemple, lets say i am at stop (One foot on the clutch the other on the break) Now I want to go but my rpm is still frozen to like 1500-2000 rpm so I am like lauching everytime I do a Stop. I cant wait 7-8sec til my rpm goes to idle at every stop I encounter you know....
I hope you guys see what I am trying yo explain you :s

I forgot something, When I put the A/C on its like 10 time worst. My A/C air compressor is also dying (Losing tons of oil). Maybe the problem could be there ? Should I take the compressor out or something or it cant affect the rpms at all ?
