i have a 95 gsx and am currently doing a whole engine change and before i put it away for the winter i was having problems with the tach. It all started coming home from a finally run and the the radio started lagging wen i turned it up and then it would just completly turn off and id restart it and i would do it again...So then wen i got home i turned the car off and went inside later i came out to park in the garage but it wouldnt turn over ..nothing.. so then we tried to pushed start it and thats wen it went crazy i pushed the clutch back in after it and the tach keeped reving up and down. then finally it settled at around 4k rpm and then wen i put it in gear and let off the clutch the engine rpms went down normal but the tach needle dropped all the way to 0 and would not move as i drove into the garage. Im not sure what this could be but i hope someone can solve this before i get the whole engine put back in... thanks!

Sounds like a "weird alternator or battery problem" my friend! Go to advance, they will check it for free. Then report back.

Check the Ignition Control Module. It's a black box between the intake manifold and the fuel rail. Whenever mine would come loose the whole car would bog down and the tach would go crazy. Without it functioning or with a faulty connection, the car won't be able to start.

ill have to look into that, cruising on the interstate today my tach needle started dancing all over the place... and finally settled down and went to working as it should, i LOLed but was concerned at the same time

Ya I guess the previous owners changed the clutch so maybe there's some things they hit or didn't reconnect right Soo thanks ill take a look. I should have the motor back in a week or two and then ill see if we got any results

reving up and down is usually a vacuum issue, sometimes. you were driving it hard before it acted up? maybe battery terminals came loose?

nah I'm not one that really beats on cars ill be replacing all the vacuum lines in the car so if it is the lines hopefully it will be fixed :D
