I was just wondering how much weight effects your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. For example if I was able to take out about 75-100 pounds for a race would it do anything noticeable to my times? If this doesn't do much, about how much weight would you have to take out to make a differnce?

Ok here is the figures i generally use when computing weight reduction

14lbs lost = 1hp gain (thats the general consensus on DSMs)

so if you can lose 140 lbs (which isnt that hard really) you gain the equivalent of 10 hp or 1 psi of boost ;)

10hp usually amounts to slight more than .1 of a second... most ppl say 100 lbs = .1 of a second but in my experience its more like 75lbs = .1 and 140-150 = .2

i say this because when i run with a passenger (normally my girlfriend, no more than 130lbs) i usually lose .2 of a second... but then again when my girl is in the car i usually am a little less aggressive :p

Its not all about racing too. Handling gets better, braking is shorter and there is less stress on the drivetrain. Weight sucks. Getting rid of it is good.
