im going to but an external wastegate but im not to sure what SPRING PSI to buy..

i am currently on stock 93 turbo internals..well i had the whole motor rebuilt..added ARP harware to everything..im currently running a T3 45 TRIM

i wanna put out atleast 350whp beacuse if i go any higher ill have to send my tranny to shep racing and i dont have that kind of money anytime soon..

soooooooo if i buy a turbonetics delta gate or tial external wastegate what spring pressure should i get ?

i dont know how the psi settings work..it not like a boost controller is it ? like if i wanna boost 20psi do i have to get a 20 psi spring with the wastegate ?

The spring you choose determines the LOWEST possible boost you can run.

also what is the big deal on the sizes of the wastegates ?

if a the wastegates im looking are

turbonetics 35mm evo delta wastegate

or the tial 38mm wastegate

which is better ?

hey I know this thread is pretty old now but I was doing some searching about external wastegates and this is what I found. The first question I had, this already answered (about the spring pressure). I was wondering tho about which external wastegate would be best also. I have a t3/t4 50 trim.. and have jussst about everything I need.. wastegate and injectors is all that's left to get. I'd like to buy the Tial 38 mm within the next day or two.. I was just wondering if that would be good enough.. and also while I'm asking questions.. LOL.. would 580 cc injectors be sufficient for this turbo? Would 550 cc be ok?? I'd really like to not blow anything up til atleast graduation when I'll have enough money to fix it :p Any advice at all on setups for this turbo on the STOCK '97 4g63 internals would be great :) Thanks!

38mm wastegate will be fine.

You'll need 650cc injectors for that turbo from what everyone says about it.
I'm assuming that you've already purchased a logger and a wideband right?

650 cc?! LOL geez wasn't expecting that one but ok I'll make that this weekend.. data logger yes.. just talked to a friend a few days ago about getting his.. I won't have it for awhile tho because the loss of your license= lots of time to work on the car= lots of time to buy the parts :) LOL and a wideband? def. don't have that either.. aren't those really expensive :notgood: haha god anything else I need? I can't afford this stupid thing! LOL thanks so far!

That'll keep you thrown back in your seats for a couple months. I'm sure you'll go bigger and badder after that though.

Zextronics (sp?) has a wideband kit right now for 279 at www.roadraceengineering.com

Hmm... a FMIC would be needed also. You'll be heatsoaking your stock SMIC in a matter of minutes. Make sure if you're running your RFL open atmosphere you wire in a MAFT translator.

oook thanks a lot for the help.. now I see I def. won't have my car ready for the races in october :( but that's ok.. there's always next year LOL
