washing???

hey, just a quick question, i have the timing belt off, changing the water pump and i wanna know if i can degrease that side of the engine... will it hurt anything? cause its really greasy and needs to be cleaned and i figured do it while the belt is off. need a quick responce to this to please. and its on a 92 tsi awd auto

Yes, it's okay to clean that. Don't flood anything electrical, and don't splash up onto the cams (and into the oil).
