wanting to build my '91 GSX

ok i just bought a '91 GSX for $700. the car ran but not at all like it should run. so im just gonna do a full rebuild and try to get it to 500whp. thats my goal and i know it can be achieved as long as i got the cash. im not worried about down time cause i got my liscense suspended for 5 months so i got plenty of time to get this car where i want it! im just wondering what some of you guys would do if you had $7000 and 5 months to work on the car. i kinda already got an idea of what im gonna do but just wanted to hear what you guys would do.

if I were you I would:
1st rebuild with all new belts/hoses etc..
2nd get something to tune with
3rd mod the hell out of it

4 bolt rear, Healthy head, and tons of boost, Tuned of course.

If it ran bad when you picked it up, I would just re-buy yourself a fully built race motor and head.

I like the EVO3 turbo w/ it ported and clipped.

im gonna build the short block and probably just buy a head from buschur or slowboy. and i plan on buying dsmlink for the tuning. and doesnt '91 gsx already come wiht a 4 bolt rear, i thought all cars built before june of '92 came with the 6/4 combo...?

ya april sounds right, my mistake. but before april of '92 all gsx's came with the 6/4 combo right...?

Wrong. Its after april. And the 6 bolt/4 bolt wasn't in production for very long. Those cars are very hard to come by. Check out our local board. Its www.rmdsm.org. We can help you there a lot. I have seen you before. I raced you in your 1.8L and your friend with the red 1G. I was the one who whooped your ass in the Black 1G.

ok now im confused about what month it was when they stopped it. but i dont remember racing any black 1g in my 2.0L. well i kinda raced a black tsi on like i-25 and a 120th, would that happen to be you? y did you think its a 1.8L. and which red 1g, the GST or the GSX. the gst is my brothers car and the gsx is my friends car.

good idea would be to just take a look at the tech guide to get an idea what you gonna need to do, for 500 hp i would go with a hybrid t3/t4 setup 60 trim stage 3 turbine, thats more than enough turbo for your goal, then hook it up wit a buschur fmic, fic 850's, fuel pump, dsmlink, full 3" exhaust, gm mas setup, ported head, internals (more of me rambling on..)
