Can anyone tell me whats wrong with my car? Voltage has been surging and blew one headlight and took out both headlights high beams. Everything electrical gets bright some times which blew the first set of lights. I went to autozone to have everything tested and the dumbass told me just to buy new connectors for the battery without testing anything. I bought a new set of headlight while I was there and when i was driving i turned on the high beams and it blew them out. Is it just a fuse or is it alternator related. Sometime the lights flicker to. It also was turning my radio on and off when the lights where getting bright.

first i would check the alternator. it shold be between 13.5 and 14.5 volts. if there is a bad diode in the alternator it would cause it to charge higher. but you might have more than 1 problem, but thats were i would start.

good luck:thumb:

You may want to trace all of the positive wires (alternator, starter, etc.) and make sure all are making good connections and are not pinched or frayed.

I had this same problem. Turned out to be the diodes in the alternator. I had a couple bad grounds that caused the diodes to go bad. So I replaced the alternator and installed a ground wire kit and now its working just dandy.
