vibration help

i have a 1g gsx and i get a really bad vibration as soon as i get over 3k rpm. i want to take it into a mechanic but dont know where to have him start to look. i know that the tranny (housing or case?) is cracked and needs to be welded up.maybe this could be the vibration? the crack is really long and just around where it bolts up. and the front 2 axels are both blown and need to be replaced. the motor itself dosent shake so i dont think its the motor mounts. could it be a tensioner? and how can i check. please any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am wondering if your counterbalance belt is broken. You lose that and it will rattle your teeth. I would start there. You could also possibly have your harmonic balancer coming apart. That's pretty common also. If you have around 60 K miles on the belt, I would definitely go in for the look. If you replace the belt and it's the first time, replace the idlers and tensioner too. You won't be sorry.

Ive seen similiar symptoms on a 2g gsx, it ended up needing new cv joints/axles. The car felt like it was vibrating so much it was going to tip over, or go into space, one of the two!
