Guelph,
I must be honest with everyone here...

THIS is my first car...
I know NOTHING about them...

It just turns out that I have a friend who had a nice car and wanted to sell it. And I was a guy who needed a car and wanted something fast =)

So in the near future I will be asking some Very simple, quite retarded questions making a complete ass out of myself

Bare with me =)

Cheers

Jonathan.

P.S. If this is not the forum to post this sort of thing.. please tell me and I will screw off =)

Hmm based off what you said about a turbo disrupting the ECU's af ratios. Then wouldn't a boost controller also have that same affect, because it allows you to change the stock wastegate opening pressure.

I feel like explaining a BOV too, just to be redundant :D.

A car works by taking in air and then using that air to create explosions. Easy stuff, everyone knows that. Well, when you step on the pedal, it pulls on the throttle line (think of a push mower, when you move the throttle lever down, you notice that metal strand yanking on a piece of metal, the engine is just like that.) that connects to the throttle body. The throttle body is a traffic cop that controls air going into the intake manifold and the wall that stops air is the throttle plate. Now when this plate is open (being open all the way is called WOT .. Wide Open Throttle) it will allow the air to come into the intake manifold. But once you let off the accelerator (for any reason, be it coming to a stop or shifting) the plate will close. But the turbo is still sending air through the pipes to be put into the intake. So the air that is now compressed hits the closed throttle plate ... which way is the air going to go? Backwards! So it travels back through the intercooler and will hit the turbo. That can cause serious damage to the turbocharger and potentially destroy the housing (the metal case that surrounds the turbines, your housing is a Mitsubishi TD05.) A blow-off valve traps this compressor surge (what its called when the air surges back because of a closed throttle) and either releases it or reroutes it back into the intake.

Take the advice of others here too, just read any thread that sounds interesting! That's how I learn this stuff, and I also knew nothing about cars before I got my Talon (that still doesnt run -_-)

yup ive had mine for a couple weeks now. i can drive it pretty good my first car and my first standard also :)

only thing that sucks is you got a 7 bolt. but atleast you got it ! :)
from what ive seen they dont make AS MUCH stuff for the 7 bolt(expensive stuff you dont really need like the moroso oil pan). but still make most of the main parts that ya need.
