I have a 95 GSX that i bought and it has a very rough idle the vaccum guage would bounce around between -8 to -13 so i know there was a leak somewhere. Also it wouldnt stay running unless you kept giving it gas, so i did a compression check and it was 60 psi across the board but i dont know if that is even accurate because the motor wouldnt stay running long enough to get warm. I took the head off to look at the valves and they dont look bent and the pistons look fine. The only thing i noticed was that it had an mls headgasket on it and underneath that was a layer of what looked to be the remains of a felpro gasket so im wondering if maybe that could be the cause of the bad idle. Theres alot of bolt ons on this car unfortunately so any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Also i noticed that three of the head studs (arp 7 bolt) were loose but i dont know if it could have happened when i took the head off or not...

Did you do a boost leak test before you tore the head off?
If not its ok, on to the current problems.

Take the head to a reputable machine shop to have it tested.
Also clean the head surface and get a straight edge to see if its flat.
Also pics would help a bunch on this one.

i did a boost leak test and it seemed fine other than a small leak at the tb. I dont have money to take it to a machine shop right now but ill get some pictures up and check the head with a straight edge. i also have a built 6 bolt head i was going to put on it if the valves were bent but i dont want to go through the trouble if thats not the case because its not exactly an easy swap.
