vacuum line??

Ok i have been having possible vacuum leak issues lately.I was looking under my hood yesterday looking for anything out of the ordinary and noticed a big line cut off.Im not sure what the line is for,it is almost directly below the fuel filter about 6 inches or so and it comes out of the firewall.Im thinking it was cut off somehow when my mechanic installed my new engine.If you feel the line there is air pulling from it.It is the only rubber line coming out of the firewall in that immediate area,and it is a fairly thick line similar to the pcv line.I looked through my chilton and still cant seem to figure out what the line attaches to.Like i said it's about 6 inches below the fuel filter and it is coming out of the firewall.It was cut somehow and is just resting on the frame.Any ideas what it could be?

Fix the leaks and do a boost leak test.

Sounds like a line for the evap system. The charcoal canister is in the area you are describing. It's under your battery tray.

It is in the area of the charcoal canister but its not coming from it.It is to the right of the canister and coming from the firewall directly below the fuel filter facing toward the front of the car.Im wondering if it is the line that goes to the intake snorkel? Right now i have the pcv line and the line from the charcoal canister going to my intake snorkel.There are no missing lines going to the charcoal canister though.It is coming directly from the firewall beneath the fuel filter.I am having issues with lean readings on my w/b so im trying to eliminate all issues so i can figure out my lean issue.
