Hey, my buddy is parting out his honda. On his honda, he had a t3/t4 drag turbo kit. (the turbo is t3/t4 and all the piping said "drag") He bought the car with the turbo and stuff on it and then in the process of building the car someone came in and stole his motor. The turbo was inside, so he still has it. He said I could give him whatever I wanted for the turbo, so how much should I give him? I can only use the turbo itself and the external tial wastegate. No shaftplay and ran at 7 psi (LOL). -matt

ok, my friend agreed to sell me the turbo and wastegate for 300. I am going to post pics as soon as I get some so maybe someone can help me figure out the trim and what not. thanks alot guys! -matt

I think more than likely its a 50 trim. Hondas seem to use those alot. Thats my guess without pics. If you look on the exhaust side it should say the AR. mine does, .63A/R

all we might be able to tell you are the housings. Only way to tell what trim the comp. wheel and what size the turbine wheel is to take the housings off and measure them.

Hey, IM putting up pics this afternoon when I get home. There is no "AR" or any numbers on it besides what looks like a short serial number and a "T" that looks like something "turbonetics" would put on there. The wastegate is turbonetics also. Like I said, pics will be going up later this afternoon. Thanks -Matt

ok, I have the pics but I dont remember how to load them on the site!!! I am going to add them to my gallery until someone posts how to post them in the forum. Thanks! -matt

Why don't you just call Turbonetics and tell them what you have, and the car it came off of. They will know what it is or have a very good idea. :thumb: As long as there is no shaft play in the turbo, that stuff should be worth the cash.

How on earth is turbonetics going to know what it is? They don't build turbos for a specific car. I already told you how to figure out what turbo it is. Take the housings off and measure the wheels. Compare the measurements to the #'s here:

Thanks NOSLO, Ive been on hold with the "tech department" for about 40 min now, and decided to take matters into my own hands. If I dismantle the turbo to look at the sizes, is everything going to go back together? Are there seals I should buy before hand, or anything that is going to pop out that I am gonna loose? :::please be patient with me here!::: And If I have it apart, can I have the half that the manifold hooks up to powdercoated black? Would powder coat last at this heat, or should I just try cleaning it the best I can? It is the really ugly dirty caste iron color... Thanks again you guys! -Matt

I've never taken apart a Garrett, only Mitsubishi turbos. The Mitsu's use a large snap ring to hold the comp. housing onto the CHRA, while using a band clamp to hold the turbine housing on. There were no "seals" or "rings" to lose, except the large snap ring. However, I can't say the same for Garrett stuff, since I've never taken one apart.

As for this post, most honda's do NOT use a 50 trim. 50 trim is a custom, special ordered turbo. 99% of those honda kits (revhard, drag, etc) use a 57 or 60 trim turbo (it's super cheap, off the shelf, assembled from Turbonetics). Usually they come with a 57 or 60 trim wheel, T04E comp housing, with a .48 or .63 a/r turbine housing w/stg 3 wheel.

Wow, I hate it when I am talkin cars with someone and then all the sudden they start to speak a different language. LOL... I am going to take the turbo apart sometime soon and start cleaning it. It seems to have the same amount of shaft play that my brand new (stock) turbo had when I 1st got it. Anyone have any comments on powdercoating the ugly part of my turbo? Or any ideas on how to make it look like the other side. Also, if anyone in AZ wants to help out with this project, or know where I can take it, please let me know. Thanks alot. Happy holidays -matt
