recently i got a palm of ebay and i also ordered a sync cable for it, but what i didn't realize is that it was a usb sync cable not a serial.... now is there a way to make this usb cable into a logger cable? could i just cut the usb end and solder diode and resistor to that ....?
please help

thx

Nope, not that easy, by a longshot. You are going to have to drop a few bucks on the serial hotsync cable.

You can convert a USB (universal serial bus) cable to operate as a serial cable and so on, but never the other way around. Basically, you have to get a new 9-pin (I believe) serial cable.

To use USB, you need a host controller. Normally that would the PC. Because you aren't going to be using a computer, you have 2 devices that cannot connect because neither can act as a host device (palm and cable).
