guys im curious to know how u rigged up the lower UICP ....pics would be highly appreciated...

okay this is a HUGE HACK ME UP JOB. ill post some pics for you in a second. if i had a choice to do it again i would have just saved for a fmic. anyways, you have to cut the top where the intercooler piping goes from the intercooler to the throttle body. here is a vfaq to help you install it http://www.geocities.com/bennyhoffb/cepadsm/supraicvfaq/

give me 10 mins and till take some pics for ya!

hope that helps

here ya go man. my supra smic is a little diffrent because i bottomed out my car and had to have someone weld me a box for it. it fits alot better this way even tho the box makes my bumper bow out more. if i were to do it again i would have them copy the orginial design but the outlet pipe not kicked to the side.

before i had the box made i had the same problem as you. the intercooler was hanging really low and i eventually bottomed out and destroyed the bottom of the intercooler. this way its higher up because it doesnt kick out to the side. the pic i got of the hole is the best its gonna get without taking apart the upper intercooler piping. you are going to have to find away to cut that thing outta their so it can fit. if the toe hitch is in the way your probably gonna have to cut that too because it might also cause the intercooler to hang lower to the ground. since my car is running like crap i dont have much of a problem of the intercooler piping poping off only because im only running stock boost untill my motor gets rebuilt. if i could do it again i wouldnt get this intercooler but i needed a cheap one for when my motor gets rebuilt (so i dont heat soak the stocker and eventually cause knock)

hope that helps

you say you made the box...is it the box thats supporting (metal strapping) so it can hold the supra smic up? Because when i mounted it as well...i thought it was hanging kind of low myself...i guess i can cut the tow hitch..and shove it up in there more without a problem...

I chopped off that tow attachment point underneath the car to make room for the lower ICP. If your car is slammed, this may be a bit risky.
I also cut a circular hole about 3" ahead of the stock one for the UICP to come through. It fit's pretty well in my car but leaves little room for your air filter.
I used a piece of 'L' bracket bolted to a mounting point on the top of the supra intercooler to a stock mount hole in the body.

when i say box i mean the second picture that i listed. the one with just the intercooler. i went to a place in town called weldco that just makes custom stuff. the made me a 3" box all around with a 2 1/2 inch pipe sticking out in a better spot than the original spot.

its cool people keep posting pics. keep them comming

Bracket -see pic
I also got rid of the stock air louver panel & bent rain gutter mesh around the SMIC to keep the air moving but deflect rocks & debris.

I had to cut off the tow hook with my sawzall so that I could get the SMIC up high as possible. I don't have too many pics of my supra smic install but this is how I installed it. As I mentioned, I put in alot of effort to keep the installation as high as possible <but> In my opinion, it would be very difficult to keep the bottom of the smic from bottoming out and scraping if one had a lowered suspension. Sometimes I find myself scraping the bottom of the intercooler during low speed turns in supermarket parking lots that have drastic dips (even when I am being mindful of trying to avoid scraping) and my car is stock height. Regardless, good luck with your supra smic install!

starting to have second thoughts about this...my car is on KYB AGX shocks/struts...and lowered on energy suspension springs..car is pretty low to the ground. I Bottom out on steep bumps and whatnot....If this IC bottoms out alot....im not really sure if i want to risk it with the plastic endtanks...what do you guys think.

My 2g was lowered 2" and I didn't cut away the tow hook. On curbs, the 45 bend connected to the IC would scratch on the pavement, but it still held air for a year of that until I took it off.

My bumper fit perfectly, no one knew it was there. The splash shield behind the IC was in place also. The IC would poke the splash shield out 1/2". That's no where near enough to look any different than stock. My turn signal had to be gutted, and the top metal had to be cut for the outlet like everyone else. That's it, not a real big deal. It can be done nicely and work with a modified suspension if you make good brackets and take your time.

well i had the same problem. i bottomed out and broke the plastic end tank. then i had someone weld a box around it and put the inlet in a place where i could easily hide the piping. now i never have to worry about me scraping. the box only cost me like 90 bucks or something but it was well worth the $$$

hope that helps
