Upper Intercooler Pipe

Hey guys, i am looking to upgrade some parts here pretty soon this summer and i had a couple of questions
I have a stock 91 TSI AWD
with an apex'i N1 cat back
and i am most likely goin to put on a down pipe, get rid of the cat, put on an exhaust manifold, intake pipe, intercooler pipe, boost gauge, MBC
and i was wondering is there is a big difference between a 1G and 2G?

Also does a home made intake pipe work pretty good or is a lot better to just buy one?

What do you mean, A difference in the 1g and 2g? If you mean the exhaust manifold, Yes.
If you mean intercooler piping, Yes. You need the 1st gen intercooler piping.
I have made a home made 3" intake pipe already for my last car, It worked fine. I even made it to be recirculated. The only thing I seen was it does not look as good as one you would buy from a company.
